Irene McDermott is the Director of the Gould Law Library and Assistant Professor of Law at Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center. Irene teaches Advanced Legal Research and New York Legal Research as well as guest lectures in numerous other courses at the law school. Irene also serves as a liaison to the Legal Clinic and the Public Advocacy Center.  Irene joined the Library Faculty of the Gould Law Library as “Reference Librarian and Digital Archivist" in 2010 and was promoted to the Head of Public Services in 2013.   
 
Prior to joining Touro Law Center, Irene worked as an attorney in private practice for over 20 years in the areas of estate planning and administration, real estate, and business law.  Because of her experience in the practice of law, Irene emphasizes the use of technology and cost effective techniques in her teaching so students will be able to utilize the latest and most efficient tools available to them after graduation. Irene has a J.D. from St. John’s Law School in Queens, NY and an M.S. from the Palmer School of Library & Information Science which is part of Long Island University.
