Touro Law Associate Professor Meredith R. Miller Elected President of LeGaL
February 12, 2015Touro Law Center is proud of Meredith R. Miller, Associate Professor of Law and Director of Solo & Small Practice Initiatives, who has been elected President of LeGaL, The LGBT Bar Association and Foundation of Greater New York. Prior to being elected President of LeGaL, Miller served on the Board of Directors and as Vice Chair of the Judiciary Committee.
Dean Patricia Salkin stated, “Touro Law faculty are leaders in bar associations throughout the state and country. Professor Miller’s extraordinary leadership comes from her dedication to seek justice, her commitment to serving the legal needs of the community and her zealous advocacy to improve the lives of others. She is a role model for our students and others.”
“I am honored to be trusted to lead LeGaL, which has played such a significant role in promoting the interests of the LGBT bar and the greater community,” said Miller. “It is such a dynamic time for the LGBT community and the organization—by the end of my tenure as President, it is very possible that we will achieve marriage equality in all fifty states.” Miller added, “I am energized about continuing the incredible work of LeGaL during such a critical and exciting time and looking forward to working with members to affect change.”
Miller, who has taught business and employment law courses for a decade, also maintains a practice serving small businesses, freelancers, startups, and angel investors. Prior to entering academia, she served as a staff attorney at the New York Court of Appeals and a litigation associate at Proskauer. She graduated from Brooklyn Law School and received an LL.M. from Temple University School of Law.
