Touro Law Center Signs Agreement with Jimei University School of Law in China
May 29, 2015On Friday, May 29, 2015 Touro Law Center Dean Patricia Salkin signed a formal Agreement of Academic Exchange and Cooperation with Jimei University School of Law (PRC). Dean Xu Cuixia signed on behalf of Jimei Law School. Touro Law Associate Dean Rodger Citron participated in the signing ceremony as well.
Under the agreement, the two schools will engage in faculty and student exchanges, collaborate on research projects, and organize joint activities including conferences, seminars, symposia and courses. Touro Law Dean Patricia Salkin said, "I am pleased that our two schools, who have shared a long history of visits and friendship, have been able to further enhance our commitment to international law and global understanding through this formal agreement." Dean Salkin visited Jimei University School of Law a couple of years ago, and prior to that, Touro Law Center's summer abroad program in China was hosted by Jimei School of Law.
Under the agreement, Jimei School of Law intends to support a visiting professor to spend a semester at Touro Law Center, and Touro Law Center will work with Jimei Law School to develop a focused curriculum for visiting students from China in areas of jury selection, U.S. Maritime Law, and a basic introduction to the US Legal System.
