New York Times Columnist Bret Stephens Receives Gould Award Thursday

Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times columnist Bret Stephens will accept the annual Gould Award on Thursday, April 26, reception and book signing 5 p.m., ceremony 6 p.m. in the FCR/BDR. Named for its benefactor, Bruce K. Gould ’84, the award recognizes the best publication of the past year on a law-related subject.

Bret Stephens joined The New York Times as an Op-Ed columnist in April 2017 after a distinguished career with The Wall Street Journal, where he was deputy editorial page editor and, for 11 years, a foreign affairs columnist. Before that, he was editor-in-chief of The Jerusalem Post. 

Mr. Stephens is the author of "America in Retreat: The New Isolationism and the Coming Global Disorder" (Penguin, 2014). He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for commentary. He was raised in Mexico City and holds a B.A. from the University of Chicago and an MSc. from the London School of Economics. 

Previous Gould Award winners include U.S. Supreme Court Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Sandra Day O’Connor; U.S. Senators Christopher Dodd and Daniel Patrick Moynihan; and Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz.
