Comparative Law Course Description - LAWN605

3 Credits

This course provides an overview of the legal systems of other nations, with an emphasis on the so-called Civil Law systems that exist in nearly every jurisdiction whose development was not influenced by English common law. In exploring sources of law, methods of interpretation, and legal institutions, the course promotes an understanding of the context in which foreign legal rules operate in order to determine their actual function. (No prerequisite. Satisfies Perspective Requirement.)
