Family Law Course Description - LAWN666
3 CreditsThis introductory course addresses the legal relationship between persons who are married to each other, those who live together as a family unit without being married, and those who have children in common; obligations each partner owes to the other; grounds for the dissolution of a marriage; and economic obligations imposed by separation and divorce. The course also explores the legal relationship between parents and their children, including an analysis of custody, support, and adoption rights. The course also explores such cutting-edge topics as same-sex marriage and Assisted Reproductive Technologies. Students, in addition to a final examination, are required to negotiate and draft a separation agreement. (No prerequisite.)
