Civil Practice Externship Description - LAWN897
5 CreditsThis course emphasizes practice skills in a format that combines a field placement with a weekly seminar. Students work approximately 12 to 15 hours per week in private law firms, corporate law departments, government legal offices, or non-profit/public interest legal groups. Students’ responsibilities include attending court, administrative proceedings and business transactions; interviewing, negotiating, and counseling; and researching and drafting pleadings and memoranda. They are also required to submit a weekly journal. The seminar component focuses on skills training, but also provides a forum for students to discuss issues arising in their field placements. (No prerequisite.)
