The Law Center’s concentration in Land Use and Sustainable Development Law prepares students to hit the ground running in careers as diverse as real estate development, construction, land use and zoning, energy, environmental compliance, or affordable housing advocacy—to name just a few. TLC students who concentrate in LUSD Law are well poised for careers in:

• The private sector – Most law graduates enter the private practice of law upon graduation. This is important work that can help clients understand and meet their legal responsibilities and achieve their goals.
• Local and state government – Government agencies play a critical role in the development of land use and sustainability law and policies. A public service career in land use, environmental, or energy law can provide graduates with responsibility for important cases and give them the opportunity to help structure new environmental or energy policies. With approximately 110 local government bodies on Long Island, Touro Law Center is ideally located to help students pursue a career in local government.
• Public interest organizations – LUSD law intersects with numerous public interest issues, including affordable housing, climate change, coastal resiliency, disaster relief, and renewable energy issues, to name just a few.
